A very special event took place on 7 September 2025 when many historic vehicles, some of them very old, visited our Royal Air Force Museum in Laarbruch. One after the other, they drove through the entrance to the museum grounds. Whether Mercedes Benz, Citroen, MG, Ford or even Volvo and Rolls-Royce, they all found a place in front of, next to or behind the museum grounds. Almost 100 vehicles visited us on the Borderline Borderland Tour 2025 on this day. With their drivers and co-drivers, of course. Some of them were dressed in appropriate period clothing and took the opportunity to visit the special “Santa Fe” exhibition. Santa Fe was the name given to a unit of the American army made up of African-American soldiers who ultimately made a significant contribution to the liberation of our region. These “special black boys” from the 35th Infantry Division formed the “Byrne” task force together with the 784th Armoured Battalion. This exhibition is dedicated to these boys and their unequal treatment after the war. The exhibition will be on display until the end of this year’s museum season.
